If you are Canadian, and you haven't at least paused watching 'Til' Debt Do Us Part' you are missing out! Gail Vaz-Oxlade has several years of money management experience. She has helped hundreds of people who don't understand money or budgeting and putting them back on track with their goals.
Money is a very tricky thing. Not everyone is naturally versed on how to spend, how to save, and how to invest. Most of us go to professionals for guidance. Gail operates on a very grass roots level. She wants you to understand the money YOU are spending. Watching the experiments you can't help but be tempted to try it out for yourself. She is a realist, and doesn't believe in living beyond your means. I love when she tells unsuspecting couples or singles 'If you continue on this path, in 5 years you will owe..'. As a working adult you don't always think of things that way. For most, you continue to endlessly pay bills, content with the fact that they will never stop..so what's another monthly payment. Many people feel as though money will always come, so will bills so live in the moment. There is such a fine line with budgeting for the future and still enjoying your life present day.
Gail's latest book focuses on women and money. Here is a quote from her book:
'What this book will do, if you are a willing participant in the process, is help you to uncover your personal feelings and attitudes toward money. It will provide you with information and proven techniques for positive money management. It will be a guide to what you must think about in order to stay on an even keel and keep money in its right place in your life. It will ask you many questions that you must answer for yourself, if you want to discover how to achieve financial health. By answering these questions, you will make some discoveries. You will find that money management is easy. You will learn new ways of dealing with money. You will achieve the results you want. '
