Finishing Among The Best...pt2

So here we go, Part TWO! If you have not already read Part ONE do so please (it will make more sense).

David Bach's Rule Numero Deux
"Goals must be specific, measurable, and provable"

Meaning "even if it's in writing (which we talked about earlier), if you are not specific about what it is you want to attain - or if you've written down something that really can't be measured or proven - then once again, what you've got isn't a goal, it's a wish"

So for example, don't just say that you want to save money. Make that money saving goal specific, for example, I want to save $5000 by January 1, 2010. I will put aside 10% of my gross income every month for the next 4 months. This organization of your actions towards your goal allows it to be measurable and thus provable.

He says "...a goal is very difficult to attain if it's vague. You have to be able to show someone (the most important someone being yourself) exactly where the finish line is. After all, if you don't know precisely what your goal is, how will you be able to tell whether you've attained it or not?"

SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, AND PROVABLE!!

Stayed tuned for rules three through five.
